National Cybersecurity Awareness Month - Introduction

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month - Introduction

Did you know that every 2 seconds there is a new victim of identity theft?

Sixty-four percent (64%) of Americans have had their information compromised from a data breach and one-third (1/3) of those victims have experienced identity theft. Unfortunately, those breaches can take an average of three months to discover.*

The Facts

According to Experian’s 2019 Data Breach Industry Forecast, these numbers are expected to increase, both in terms of individuals affected and severity of attacks. Among the new trends is biometric hacking, which we saw this summer in an attack affecting over 1 million people. The biometric hacking event occurred only weeks after the Capital One breach.

Despite many consumers’ attempts to safeguard their information, data breaches are getting bigger and hackers are getting savvier. Simply put, the amount of compromised data that can devastate personal identities is on the rise.
